In 2012, there were approximately 20 Electric Vehicle models from various auto manufacturers on the road. As of November 2021,
over 2 million Electric Vehicles are on the road in the U.S. In 2030
it is projected the number of Electric Vehicles will reach 18.7 million.
Electric cost will vary depending on local utility rates, what kind of EV Charging Station is installed and what Electric Vehicle is being driven. Regardless, the cost of powering your EV will be significantly less than what you would pay at the pump to fuel a traditional vehicle. Based on currently available Electric Vehicles and average electricity rates, it's estimated that an EV owner will save approximately 75% in fuel costs by switching from gasoline to electricity. For instance, to power your electric vehicle for 100 miles using a Level II Charger, it may require up to 4 hours of charging time at a cost of about a $1 a day.
Yes, using Mars Electric is a turn-key solution for your project. We will handle your project from research, all the way to installation and completion of your car charger.
Permitting depends upon the size of a project. Some smaller projects do not require a permit. However, the requirement for a permit does depend upon the local municipality. This is why Mars Electric will always verify what type of permit is required and can obtain them for you.
Most projects will require architectural drawings.
Mars Electric can help you with any architectural services you may need.
RFID (Radio-frequency identification ) card is needed to activate the Charger. Most all Electric Vehicle owners will already have one. And of course, you will be issued one with your Charging Station. If, however, an extra card is needed, or if for some reason, a member doesn't have one, then it is a simple matter of calling your supplier.
If a property is leased, can an EV charger be installed?
Yes, almost always. In fact, we have seen that many property owners are very supportive of the units at their properties. We have found that many property owners recognize that the installation of Electrical Vehicle Supply (EVSE) units will promote their properties. With the installation of the ChargePoint units, you can set up the software so that when an electric vehicle owner is looking for a station, you can show the identity of the property owners' facility name, as well as yours.
Practically none. We have found that once property owners understand the safety features that the units have, the questions on property risk go away. Each unit is automatically de-energized until the vehicle is completely connected. Therefore, even if someone pulled the J1772 plug out from the vehicle while it was charging, or someone did not connect the J1772 plug back into the charging station, there will not be any electricity coming through the cord, and the cut-off of electricity is instantaneous.
Who pays for the electricity?
In many states, you are unable to 'resell' electricity. Therefore, the owners of public charging stations must find an alternative way to recoup their costs. Some proposed ways of doing so include assessing a fee by the hour, charging a flat fee for accessing the station, or requiring a subscription service to access the station. As volumes of vehicles are low, some public locations are offering free charging; however, as vehicle volumes increase this will likely not remain cost-effective. Of course, many will still offer it free for Public Relations and Marketing values.
Whether you need EV Chargers installed in your home
garage, or multiple stations at your office, we want to know your needs exactly so that we can provide the perfect solution.
